- Shape: Sleek, slightly flattened body with a rounded belly (especially in pregnant females).
- Fins:
- Dorsal fin: Tall and fan-like in males, shorter in females.
- Caudal fin (tail): Can be rounded, lyre-shaped, or sail-shaped in some varieties.

- Wild mollies are usually silvery-gray or greenish.
- Captive-bred varieties come in black (Black Molly), gold, white, dalmatian (spotted), and even metallic shades.
- Some have lyre tails or balloon-shaped bodies (selectively bred).
Behavior & Temperament:
- Peaceful & Social: Gets along well with other community fish like guppies, platies, and tetras.
- Active Swimmers: Prefer swimming in the middle to upper levels of the tank.
- Livebearers: Females give birth to free-swimming fry (no eggs).

- pH: 7.5–8.5 (slightly hard, alkaline water preferred)
- Salinity: Some varieties tolerate brackish water.
- Tank Size: Minimum 10–20 gallons (larger for groups).

- Balloon Molly – Rounder, shorter body (controversial due to health concerns).
- Sailfin Molly – Larger dorsal fin (males).

Mollies are great for beginners but do best in stable water conditions with some salt (optional). Their lively personalities and variety of colors make them a delightful addition to community tanks! 🐟💙
